Lacrosse is a spring sport running approximately March through May. Lacrosse, thankfully, is a sport typically played on turf which is less muddy in the spring rains than grass. Athletes and spectators can expect rain and cool weather, especially early in the season. Lacrosse athletes are tough and play rain or shine unless there is a safety concern like lightening.
Teams are divided by age for games in categories of U8, U10, U12, etc. (Under 8, Under 10, Under 12). Depending on registration numbers teams may practice together or younger girls may play up.
Ages
We welcome all ages and will create appropriate teams based on registration ages and numbers. We currently have a U10 Team that includes girls in 3rd and 4th grade but are hoping to add more.

Kickoff Jamboree
OGLA kicks off the season with a city wide Jamboree on March 7th!

Families will be notified of specific times as soon as they are posted by OGLA.
Season Tournament
The season closes with a city wide tournament the weekend of May 30-31. The tournament conducts full games and is a chance for the girls to show off all of their hard work throughout the season. It is a fun atmosphere with tents, concessions and camaraderie.
Families will be notified of specific times and locations later in the season.
Clothing and Equipment
This is a spring sport and athletes can expect to practice and play games in a range of weather including rain and cold temperatures, especially at the beginning of the season. Please be prepared for this with good clothing. We advise warm pants, a rain jacket and optional hat or gloves.
USA lacrosse requires its players to wear cleats and have regulation lacrosse sticks, goggles and mouth guards. Equipment detail and suggestions can be found under the resources tab.
Please note that no earrings will be allowed during games. Even taped earrings will not be allowed by our referees. So please don't get your ears pierced right before the season!
If you need financial assistance for the needed gear please let us know!
